TERMS OF SERVICE

COMPANY INFORMATION

These terms govern the provision of any sale or service provided by Unit Computers Ltd to you as a client/customer.


Unit Computers Ltd provides you with access to and use of the services subject to your compliance with these terms. Unit Computers Ltd reserves the right to refuse to provide the services to anyone at any time without notice for any reason. You represent and warrant to us that you are at least 18 years old and have the right, capacity and authorization necessary to legally bind yourself to these terms.


AUTHORIZATION OF ACCESS

You acknowledge that by your use of any of our services that you authorize access and control of your device(s) and that a third-party service provider may be required to complete a service.


QUOTATIONS

All quotations given by us is given as a guide based on limited information and intended to give an estimate on the price and not an assurance that the product or service will be sold at that price. 


LEGAL RIGHTS

The client is the legal owner or authorized representative of the legal owner of the equipment and all data and components contained within. You must be the owner, or have their permission, for us to work on your equipment.


ABANDONED GOODS

Any item which has not collected within 60 days (without prior arrangement) by the customer will be deemed as the property of Unit Computers Ltd and shall be disposed of accordingly with every effort made to erase private data if applicable. In some situations, we reserve the right to resell the goods to reclaim any costs incurred. You agree to hold Unit Computers Ltd harmless for any damage or claim for the abandoned property.


ONSITE & REMOTE SERVICES

You agree to provide full access to your device, peripherals and/or software that are to be serviced and that power, network connectivity and a safe working environment is provided along with full co-operation and physical access to your device to perform services. If we are onsite then there must be a person of at least 18 years of age present the entire period that services are being provided.


SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

Unit Computers Ltd may need to download and/or run software on your device to help diagnose and resolve issues. You agree that we may use software from third parties and accept any applicable license agreements on your behalf.


BACKUP SERVICES & POTENTIAL DATA LOSS

While we will make all reasonable efforts to safeguard the data stored on your device, you understand and agree that prior to allowing us access your device, it is your responsibility to have backed up all data. You acknowledge and agree that Unit Computers Ltd and/or its third-party service providers shall not be responsible under any circumstances for any loss, alteration, or corruption of any data. If you do not have a backup of your software and data, we can provide you with our data backup service at an additional cost. However, we cannot guarantee the integrity of the data when backing up.


CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY

Unit Computers Ltd agrees not to disclose all information or data files supplied with, stored on, or recovered from client's equipment except to employees or third-party service providers except by law.


OUR NO FIX, NO FEE POLICY

If we have found the solution to the problem with the equipment or product as it was delivered to us and the client does not wish to continue with the repair, then a set fee of £25 is still due before the equipment/product is allowed back to a client. This fee is to cover the hour/s our technician has spent finding the issue and sourcing appropriate software and/or hardware to fix the equipment or product.

 

OUR WARRANTIES

Unit Computers Ltd offers the following warranty periods, these apply unless otherwise specified in the items invoice. All warranties are to be considered “return to base”.


6 MONTH WARRANTY

All labour, used hardware and repair parts used are covered by a 6-month warranty. If the same problem re-occurs within 6 months of the original repair completion date (invoice date) we will only charge for any additional parts that may be required. This excludes faults caused by liquid or physical damage, software, viruses and end user errors.


12 MONTH WARRANTY

On all new hardware, software and/or equipment sold. Any repair work carried out may have to be carried out through the original manufacturers/suppliers’ warranty.


WARRANTY REPAIRS

Every warranty repair is treated as a priority and subject to parts availability. In some cases, repairs can take a significant length of time. If a device fails twice to a level where it is not fit for purpose due to no fault/misuse of the end user, then a full refund will be become available as an option to you, our customer.


WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS

Warranties do not cover loss or damage due to negligence, misuse, accidents, liquid damage, theft, flood, fire, earthquakes, electrical storms or any other act of God, war related events, failure of equipment due to the equipment not being serviced adequately, or failure from “fair wear and tear”.


Warranty on any hardware will be voided if any sticker placed on the item has been removed, broken or tampered with. No Warranty is provided for any software supplied with any devices such as the operating system.


OUR PAYMENT TERMS

All purchases must be paid in full upon completion. If any amount remains outstanding 14 days after invoice date, we reserve the right to charge a 5% penalty charge for each week an amount is left outstanding. If debt collection proves necessary, the client agrees to pay all fees incurred by that process.


Please note we allow up to 28 days for us to deliver any product or service before any compensation or refund is permitted.


REFUNDS & UNWANTED GOODS POLICY

You can cancel a purchase up to 14 days of delivery date, you must then return the purchase to our premises within 28 days of delivery date. All goods must be returned in the exact condition they were sold, e.g. sealed in box, all bundled items must be returned together. The purchaser accepts they must pay all return postage costs on non-faulty goods. All consumable items, printer cartridges, services, software and bespoke items – unless found to be faulty are not eligible for refund or return as unwanted goods.


All refunds are by credit note only. Full cash/card refunds are only available if the product has been found to be faulty or was purchased online/phone and returned as cancelled purchase (please see above).


LIMITED LIABILITY

You agree that in no event Unit Computers Ltd will be liable in any way for damage, loss of data, revenue or profits, including due to any negligence on its part, to be limited to the contract price for the services or purchase. Unit Computers Ltd shall not be liable for any claims regarding the physical functioning of equipment/media or the condition or existence of data on media supplied before, during or after service.


The client and Unit Computers Ltd agree that the sole and exclusive remedy for unsatisfactory work shall be, at our option. Both parties acknowledge that the price of Unit Computers Ltd services would be much greater if Unit Computers Ltd undertook more extensive liability.


PLEASE NOTE

Once a payment is made, or equipment has been left with Unit Computers Ltd you are bound to these Terms.

Unit Computers Limited respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you. It applies to information we collect in relation to:

DATA COLLECTION

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data. We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it and never sell your information to third parties.


We store your first name, last name, address, email and telephone numbers for tracking your use of our services and/or purchases and their relevant warranties. If you are a business customer we might also hold additional contact details for relevant purposes, e.g. contact details of management or decision makers. We also store your marketing and communications preferences, e.g. if you have opted in to receive our newsletter. We store financial and transaction data to confirm and track payments.


We may also store profile data such as your username and passwords for the purposes of providing a quality and personal service with minimal disruption in an encrypted form.

We may need to collect personal data by law or under our terms of service. If you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract. In this situation, we may have to cancel a product or service you have with us.


METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION

We use different methods to collect data from and about you which are listed below:


DIRECT INTERACTIONS: You may give us your personal data by corresponding with us in any way. This includes personal data you provide when you request a product or services, create an account on our websites, subscribe to a service, enter a competition, promotion or survey, give us feedback and so on.


AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGIES OR INTERACTIONS: As you interact with our website, we may automatically collect data about your device, browsing actions and patterns. We collect this personal data by using cookies, server logs and other similar technologies. Please see our Cookie Policy on each of our websites for further details.


THIRD PARTIES: We may receive personal data about you from various third parties such as analytics providers (such as Google based outside the EU) and information providers (such as Facebook based outside the EU).


USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:


- To perform a service or purchase you have requested from us.

You acknowledge and consent that we may share your personal data with third parties for the purposes of providing services to you. Our service providers who may act as processors may be based inside and/or outside of the EEA who provide IT services, administration functions, logistics, web hosting, email systems, payment processing, phone and SMS systems, accounting services, analytics and/or insurance providers. 


DATA SECURITY

We have put in place security measures to prevent your personal data from being compromised in any way. We limit access to your personal data to employees and other third parties to be only when required. Who will only process your personal data on instruction and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.


DATA RETENTION

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.


By law we must keep basic information about our customers including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data for at least six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes.


YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data. You have the right to exercise the following actions on your personal data with us:


- Request Access, Correction, Transfer or Erasure of your personal data (except where we legally must keep records)

- Withdraw consent at any time (we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you)


If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please contact us. You will not have to pay a fee to exercise any of your rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee at our hourly rate if your request is unfounded, repetitive or excessive. We may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.


WHAT WE MAY NEED FROM YOU:

We will request specific identifying information from you to confirm your identity and right to carry out any action. This security measure is to ensure data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.


TIME LIMIT TO RESPOND

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within 28 days, occasionally it may take us longer.


COMPLAINTS

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns, so please contact us in the first instance.


CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY AND YOUR DUTY TO INFORM US OF CHANGES

We reserve the right to update this privacy notice at any time. It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us.
